This is any condition in which the main influencing factor is phenylethanoid glycosides (PhGs), a class of natural glycosides containing hydroxy-methoxy-substituted phenylethyl and hydroxy-methoxy-substituted cinnamoyl groups, usually with central glucose as the parent core, and also an ester bond and oxygen glycoside bond. PhGs are obtained from a wide range of sources and show strong biological and pharmacological activities, such as antioxidant, antibacterial and neuroprotective effects.
