Definition:A condition in which the main influencing factor is any substance that is poisonous or destructive to nerve cells or tissue, or that can be metabolized into a substance that is destructive to nerve cells or tissue.
Comment:Note that, although commonly used to refer to any neurotoxic substance, the term "neurotoxin" is technically restricted to naturally occurring proteins or peptides which are neurotoxic.
