Definition:any anomaly in the process whose specific outcome is the formation of dental enamel, the hard outer coating of the exposed portion of the tooth; amelogenesis occurs after the first establishment of dentin, via cells known as ameloblasts, and can generally be divided into two broad stages: (i) a secretory stage that involves proteins and an organic matrix forming a partially mineralized enamel and (ii) a maturation stage which completes enamel mineralization
Synonyms:exact_synonym: abnormal amelogenesis;   abnormal enamel formation
