Definition:presence of small extra bone segments, usually of irregular shape and variable size, arising in fontanelles and/or adjacent to or along the cranial sutures, and formed from additional and separate centers of ossification of the cranium; in humans, Wormian bones are most frequently located in the lambdoid or coronal suture, and have been seen in the fontanelles, particularly the posterior fontanelle
