MAMMALIAN PHENOTYPE - ANNOTATIONS

The Mouse Adult Gross Anatomy Ontology and Mammalian Phenotype Ontology are downloaded weekly from the Mouse Genome Informatics databases at Jackson Laboratories (ftp://ftp.informatics.jax.org/pub/reports/index.html). For more information about these ontologies, see the MGI Publications Page at http://www.informatics.jax.org/mgihome/other/publications.shtml.

Term:abnormal endoplasmic reticulum morphology
go back to main search page
Accession:MP:0009378 term browser browse the term
Definition:any structural anomaly of irregular network of unit membranes, visible only by electron microscopy, that occurs in the cytoplasm of many eukaryotic cells
Comment:The endoplasmic reticulum membranes form a complex meshwork of tubular channels, which are often expanded into slitlike cavities called cisternae. The ER takes two forms, rough (or granular), with ribosomes adhering to the outer surface, and smooth (with no ribosomes attached).
Synonyms:exact_synonym: abnormal ER morphology
