The Clinical Measurement Ontology (CMO), Measurement Methods Ontology (MMO), and Experimental Condition Ontology (XCO) are currently being developed at the Rat Genome Database. For more information about these vocabularies please see Shimoyama et al. Three ontologies to define phenotype measurement data. Front Genet. 2012;3:87. Epub 2012 May 28 or contact us (http://rgd.mcw.edu/contact/index.shtml).
Any method which measures one or more cytokines, any of a large group of low-molecular-weight proteins (~5-20 kDa in size) secreted by various cell types. Cytokines are involved in cell-to-cell communication, in coordinating antibody and T cell immune interactions, and in regulating immune reactivity. Cytokines include colony-stimulating factors, interferons, interleukins, lymphokines, and members of the TNF and TGF-beta superfamilies.
Comment:
Only for use when the specific method of measuring the cytokine such as ELISA, EIA or RIA, is not given.
