The Clinical Measurement Ontology (CMO), Measurement Methods Ontology (MMO), and Experimental Condition Ontology (XCO) are currently being developed at the Rat Genome Database. For more information about these vocabularies please see Shimoyama et al. Three ontologies to define phenotype measurement data. Front Genet. 2012;3:87. An experimental procedure to measure the rate, level or amount of growth and reproduction of isolated cells.
Comment:
Scope note: this term is intended for use in cases where the resulting measurement is of the growth of the cells, not when cell growth is used as a readout to determine the amount or activity of an applied substance. For that application, use "cell proliferation bioassay" (MMO:0000442).
