Definition:Joining of the spleen and a gonad during embryological development.
Comment:The spleen is located in close proximitiy to the gonads during early embryological development, which may facilitate fusion. Splenogonadal fusion may be divided into continuous or discontinuous types, with the gonad being directly attached to the spleen in the continuous type . The discontinuous type consists of gonadal fusion with an accessory spleen or ectopic splenic tissue.
