Definition:This is a calculated value in which the total lean mass of an organism is divided by the total mass of an organism and presented as a ratio, fraction, quotient or percentage, thus normalizing lean mass to the total mass of the body. Whole body lean tissue mass of an organism is determined by TD-NMR (time-domain nuclear magnetic resonance) or a formula using height and weight of subject.
