Definition:A calculated measurement in which the number of fetuses with left umbilical artery is divided by the total number of fetuses in the prospective litter, and the result presented as a ratio, fraction, quotient or percentage. In a rat fetus the right umbilical artery tends to remain patent while the left becomes closed near the end of gestation.
