Definition:The total number of rod bipolar cells in the retina, the innermost layer or coating at the back of the eyeball, which is sensitive to light and in which the optic nerve terminates. A rod bipolar cell is a neuron that is synapsed by rod photoreceptor cells but not by cone photoreceptor cells.
