Measurement of the unstimulated, baseline or lowest possible amount of a radioactive nucleoside, such as tritiated (3H-) thymidine, incorporated into white blood cells during a specified period of time. The level of nucleoside incorporation is proportional to the amount of cell proliferation and is used as a measure of the latter.
