Measurement of the physical form or structure of one or both of the adrenal glands, the complex endocrine glands located just above the kidneys which release hormones in response to stress through the synthesis of corticosteroids such as cortisol and catecholamines such as adrenaline (epinephrine) and noradrenaline, as well as producing androgens in the innermost cortical layer.
