A triarylmethane that is tris(4-chlorophenyl)methane in which the hydrogen of the central carbon is replaced by a hydroxy group. It is a byproduct of DDT manufacturing and is a highly persistent contaminant found in the environment and which bio-accumulates in marine species.
tris(4-chlorophenyl)methanol binds to and results in decreased activity of AR protein; tris(4-chlorophenyl)methanol inhibits the reaction [Dihydrotestosterone results in increased activity of AR protein]
