Term:
type Ib group B Streptococcus capsular polysaccharide
A polysaccharide derivative that is the capsular polysaccharide of type Ib group B Streptococcus, consisting of saccharide chains involving alpha-D-NeuNAc-(2->3)-beta-D-Galp, beta-D-Galp-(1->3)-beta-D-GlcpNAc, beta-D-GlcpNAc-(1->3)-beta-D-Galp, beta-D-Galp-(1->4)-beta-D-Glcp and beta-D-Glcp-(1->4)-beta-D-Galp linkages. The whole can be conjugated to a carrier protein (e.g. CRM197 and tetanus toxoid) randomly along the polysaccharide chain (cross-linked). An example structure is shown in the diagram.
